Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA) is meant to help you learn and be a successful learner. They provide you practice in writing answers to questions and get feedback. These assignments will therefore help you to monitor your progress in studies. These assignments are available in a separate booklet, which is provided to the learners through Material Production Unit of NIOS.

As per NIOS F.A.Q - Academic Support (NIOS Official Page)

Yes. From the year 2013-14 submission of Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA) has been made compulsory prior to Public Examination. Those who do not submit their TMA, may not be allowed to sit in Public Examination and / or their results may not be declared.

TMA is applicable for learners registered under Stream I and is not applicable for Stream II, III & IV.

From the year 2013-14, TMA carries 20% weightage in the external examinations and these marks will be shown separately in the mark sheet along with external examination paper which will carry 80 marks in each subject.

3. Submission of TMA By Learners
"Submission of Internal Assessment including TMA etc. will not be compulsory for declaration of results. The NIOS has made earnest efforts to popularize the scheme amongst the Study Centres and learners, highlighting its merits, so that learners are encouraged to submit the TMA."





Internal Assessment "IA" Including Tutor Marked Assignment "TMA" in Secondary and Senior Secondary Examination will carry 20% weightage in the External Examination and the marks will be shown separately and added to the marks obtained in the External Theory Examination and Practicals "wherever applicable".
